It all begins with an idea.

I work as a physician assistant in primary care and over the years have found something interesting: weight loss is a key component of management for numerous health conditions but yet insurance companies will not allow for an office visit to discuss this. In medicine we are taught how to manage high blood pressure with medications and discussion of lifestyle measures but don’t get the opportunities to tailor a diet and exercise discussion for each patient. With my background in exercise science and my love for food it made sense for me to have this discussion with as many patients as I could but it never fully worked out. When patients would schedule an office visit for weight loss management, I would end up spending so much time explaining why I can’t talk about it directly. There were always questions and confusions for how basic (to those of us already working in medicine) processes would work with in health care from how an office visit is billed to the difference in types of care. This confusion and my desire to help with an educational focus is what prompted this brain child of mine. With the help from some pretty great friends I am happy to put this tool out into the world.
